Last month MADabolic Inc. was happy to welcome Jamie Nakamura and the Asheville, NC market to our greater community. The future MADabolic Asheville will be a great addition to the family adding even more strength in the Carolina’s.

#Trending is a popular term these days and in the fitness world trends drive everything. The American College of Sports Medicine performs a survey once a year detailing exactly what is hot and what is not.

What is trending …
In short, MADabolic Inc. is … 1) High Intensity Interval Training, 2) Body Weight Training, 3) Educated, Certified, and Experienced Fitness Professionals, 4) Strength Training, 8) Functional Fitness and 9) Group Personal Training are all currently listed in this years top 10. The more interesting part to this survey are the ones who have fallen off this same list from recent years being labeled as “fads” rather than “trends”. This year Zumba, Pilates, Spinning and Stability Ball / Balance training have all found themselves on this unfortunate list.
Respondents were first asked to make the important distinction between a “fad” and a “trend.” A “trend” has been described as “a general development or change in a situation or in the way that people are behaving” ( http://dictionary.cambridge.org). Using this definition, it would be highly predictable, then, to see the same trends appearing for multiple years in a “trends survey.” The definition of trend includes the phrase “general development,” as opposed to “fad,” which is described as “a fashion that is taken up with great enthusiasm for a brief period” ( http://dictionary.reference.com). ~ Walter R. I can’t say we haven’t seen this coming, Kirk and I have discussed it for years. How to remain relevant? How to avoid trends? What separates us from the competition? Who is a legitimate threat? In fact we meet about his weekly. In the end, it all comes back to one word, quality. Quality I like, but trendy is actually a dangerous and risky word in my opinion. It has the chance to tail off or slow down. Not exactly part of our vocabulary. We plan to get stronger year after year adding new tools and more depth as we grow.
Make no mistake, we are not a trend and definitely not a fad. There is no doubt we’ve helped drive this trend giving it exposure in our local markets. But this is not new to us, Interval Training is nothing new to us or even the fitness world for the matter. For a long time we’ve specialized in strength and endurance and have created programs to support these so called current trends.

At MADabolic Inc., strength and endurance is the only thing we do and we’ve been paving the way for some time now. We are not jumping on some band wagon looking to add HIIT, Tabata or Interval classes to an array of other programs. We are not looking to capitalize on a trend; we’ve helped build it. We don’t offer yoga, cycling or other complimentary fitness classes. We do on the other hand have these experts in our MAD community and will gladly recommend you to them for these specialities. Many of them are clients of ours who treat MADabolic Inc. as their home for the strength and endurance aspect in their athletic lifestyle.
So let me emphasizes this. We do one thing “Intense Intervals . Insane Conditioning” and we put our entire focus towards it. We currently are and always have been providing this so called “trend” everyone now wants to be a part of. MADabolic Inc. is an innovative interval based strength and endurance program. Each workout is intentionally crafted to deliver a specific intensity and provide lasting results. Everything we do is predetermined, carefully structured, and built to compliment any active lifestyle.
This may sound a little trendy and while we welcome this competitive market we do plan to stand out. This our speciality, this is the only thing we do and we plan to lead this so called trend.
